Shirt Details
Mother of Pearl Buttons
Mother of Pearl buttons are made from the inner layer of pearl oysters. This is also called nacre. This classic detail adds a greater depth of color from plastic resin buttons. Mother of Pearl buttons can crack with harsh treatment at a dry cleaners, but their coloration is maintained in spite of long term washing.
Gusseted Shirt Tails
A piece of cloth usually in the shape of a triangle that is sewn into something to make it wider or stronger. We use the gusset to make the bottom of the shirt both wider (allowing for easier movement and to sit in) and stronger.
Elite Fabrics
We source our fabrics from the finest mills in the world. They have unique yet classic patterns to ensure a perfectly polished shirt. Our shirt fabrics are made of 100% natural fibers such as cotton and linen.
Single-Needle Edge Stitching
Single Needle Edge Stitching (also known as Lockstitch) is achieved by using the two threads, upper and lower, and entwining them together in the hole in the fabric which they pass through. This process takes twice as long as the double needle stitching that is seen in other brands.
When looking at our shirts you see one row of stitches running the length of all of the seams. That’s single edge stitching. It looks neater and cleaner with fewer visible stitches. This keeps our shirts looking great over time. They press nicely and do not pucker up.
Invisible Snaps
An invisible snap is used between the top two buttons of our shirts which is in the largest part of the bust area. This prevents gapping when the wearer moves allowing her to always look perfectly tailored.
Unfused Soft Collars
This type of collar has the same quality construction as those with fusing but it gives a more relaxed, softer look. Women don’t wear ties and don’t need collar stays. Unfused collars make our shirts feminine yet structured.
Monograms
Monograms offer an additional personalized touch to our custom shirts. They are done in colors to complement, not overpower the rest of the shirt. We offer three styles of monograms. Our block and script style read straight across (i.e. First, Middle, Last) whereas our true Monogram style features the last name largest in the center (i.e. First, Last, Middle).
Perfectly Contrasted Accents & Stitching Colors
Our shirts all feature beautifully classic fabrics. To add a touch of distinction, we have added unique details such as a contrasting fabric inside the collar or placket. In other cases, we change the stitching to a contrasting shade either all over the shirt or simply on the buttons and button holes.
Darts
Our Tailored Fit features back darts. These are two simple seams running down each the back on each side. These are used to create a greater contoured look from the back of the shirt. It will not puff or billow. It creates a further slimming look.
Shoulder Pleats
Our Boyfriend Fit shirts feature two shoulder pleats on the back of the shirt. These are used to increased range of movement in the shirt and create a greater relaxed look.
2-Button Cuffs
All of our Tailored and Boyfriend Fit shirts feature 2 button rounded cuffs. We use these to give the wearer maximum versatility. The longer cuff allows for the perfect roll which is our favorite way to wear these styles. They also look great buttoned and worn under a jacket or left long and unbuttoned for an easy carefree look.
French Cuffs
French cuffs are also called double cuffs. They are more formal and need to be worn with cufflinks. This is the perfect way to rock the menswear look without putting on a suit and tie.
Convertible Cuffs
We feature Convertible cuffs on our Tunic cut shirts. This type of cuff will stay put as it is fit to your arm, yet it has a wider cuff that can be worn with cufflinks as you would with a French cuff shirt.
Pockets
Our Boyfriend Fit is truly borrowed from the boys and features a single pocket on the left side of the shirt. Use it for your cell or a lipstick or just keep it flat. It just adds to the relaxed styling of that cut.
Seam Matching
Our shirts are made by hand – every one of them. Our expert tailors ensure that even the boldest pattern will look classically done. The pattern will line up on both sides of the buttons and seams for a perfectly clean seamless look.
